Rodent Control (Starting from $150)

Rodents are more than just a nuisance — they are known carriers of numerous serious diseases, including hantavirus, salmonella, leptospirosis, lymphocytic choriomeningitis, and even the bubonic plague. In addition to spreading bacteria and viruses, rodents can also introduce fleas and ticks into your home, increasing the risk of secondary infestations. Their presence poses a health hazard, particularly in kitchens, pantries, and anywhere food is stored or prepared.

Summary of rodent-borne diseases:

1. Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS)

Transmission: Inhalation of aerosolized virus from rodent urine, droppings, or saliva (especially deer mice).

Symptoms:

Early: Fever, fatigue, muscle aches (especially large muscle groups), headaches, dizziness, chills.
Later (4–10 days): Coughing, shortness of breath, lungs fill with fluid.

Mortality Rate: 36–40% (according to the CDC)
Severity: Very high. Requires ICU support. No specific cure or vaccine.

2. Salmonellosis (from Salmonella bacteria)

Transmission: Ingestion of food or water contaminated with rodent feces.

Symptoms:

Diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps (usually within 6–72 hours after exposure).
Most cases are self-limiting (4–7 days).

Mortality Rate: <1% in healthy individuals. Can rise to 15–20% in immunocompromised or untreated septicemia.
Severity: Low to moderate. Antibiotics used in severe cases.

3. Leptospirosis

Transmission: Contact with water or surfaces contaminated with urine or droppings of infected rodents. Can enter via skin cuts or mucous membranes.

Symptoms:

Phase 1: Fever, headache, muscle aches, vomiting.
Phase 2 (Weil’s disease): Kidney/liver failure, meningitis, bleeding.

Mortality Rate: 5–15% in severe cases (Weil’s disease). Much lower in mild cases.
Severity: Mild to severe. Treatable with antibiotics if caught early.

4. Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus (LCMV)

Transmission: Inhalation of dust contaminated with infected house mouse droppings or urine.

Symptoms:

Phase 1: Flu-like symptoms, nausea, muscle aches.
Phase 2: Meningitis, encephalitis, or meningoencephalitis.

Mortality Rate: <1%, but can be severe in immunocompromised individuals or during pregnancy (linked to birth defects and fetal death).
Severity: Moderate. No specific antiviral treatment.

5. Bubonic Plague (Yersinia pestis)

Transmission: Not usually from droppings directly, but rodents serve as reservoirs, and fleas transmit the disease. Droppings could theoretically harbor fleas.

Symptoms:

Sudden fever, chills, headache, fatigue, swollen and painful lymph nodes ("buboes").

Mortality Rate: 30–60% untreated. <10% with prompt antibiotic treatment.
Severity: Very high if untreated.

Our rodent control service includes a single treatment featuring one professional-grade bait station, strategically placed for maximum effectiveness. We use a powerful combination of hard and soft baits containing the fastest-acting rodenticide available on the market—engineered to minimize the risk of secondary poisoning to pets and wildlife. In cases where snap traps are appropriate, they are used alongside baiting for an integrated approach. Each bait station is capable of eliminating up to 48 mice or 12 rats within just 24 to 48 hours, depending on the level of infestation.

Additional bait stations are available for $20 each, allowing us to tailor the service to the unique layout and severity of your rodent issue.
